Ethera's Story

The idea of opening my own gallery has been growing in me for years. One evening during the Covid pandemic, I mentioned my vision in conversation with Jakub, who promptly opened his computer and began searching for suitable spaces.

During our search, we discovered a remarkable building in the heart of Prague at Tržiště Street No. 22. Its history dates back to 1279, including a historic hall with a ceiling from the 16th century. We knew immediately that this was the place where contemporary art would bridge the past with the future.

Transforming the space into a gallery was challenging. The original condition required significant renovation, demanding sensitive approaches due to its historical significance. We transformed the space to meet modern gallery standards, embracing minimalist design while preserving its historical integrity.

The name Ethera emerged naturally. Ether in the sense of a molecule of ether - a molecule of eternity, an embodiment of the space between worlds, between the immaterial and the material. We create a space that connects different layers of reality, worldviews, and abstract expressions. Ethera Gallery broadly explores transcending the conventional definitions of space and time.

Ethera is built not only for art but also for people who want to experience it and feel that it is in the "in-between" where a new way of seeing the world can be discovered. It provides space for emerging artists and creates a place for dialogue, where art is not only presented but also created. The environment of Ethera awakens potential, connects people, and opens doors to creativity.

"At the age of 20, I got a low-fi camera in my hands and never stopped photographing."

Karolina Ježová is a photographer who has discovered the power of this medium as a tool for deep expression of inner thoughts and emotions. After experimenting and searching for her own path, she naturally gravitated toward abstract minimalism, becoming a central element of her contemporary work. Her work features tension between hidden and obvious meanings, highlighting photography's capacity to reveal latent connections. Her reflections echo contemporary society, frequently inclined toward superficial judgments and biases.

"I try to view reality from two perspectives. I expose hidden secrets and unspoken aspects in their own nakedness, while everything that is clear and transparent is subject to distortion and questioning."

He is a lecturer in 3D technologies, virtual and augmented reality (VR, AR) and interactive art at Prague City University.

“My artworks explore the infinity of reality as well as the reality of infinity. I use advanced 3D scanning and imaging technologies to create minimalist interactive installations that complexly process multi-dimensional transformations of raw data inputs. After more than a decade of creating interactive installations, including site-specific spatial forms, in recent years I have also begun experimenting with minimalist geometric objects, combining 3D design, 3D printing, hand post-processing and acrylic painting."

He also creates interactive VR and AR applications for science communication of the most advanced laser systems and plasma physics experiments.
